Girijatmaj, the son of Goddess Parvati (also known as Girija), is celebrated at a unique temple set atop a mountain. This special place, the Girijatmaj Ashtavinayak Temple, stands out because it is the only one among the eight revered Ashtavinayak temples located on a mountain and is part of a historical Buddhist cave complex. This temple, dedicated to Lord Ganesha, represents him in his child form and is affectionately known as the Lenyadri Ganpati temple. It holds the sixth position in the pilgrimage route of the Ashtavinayak Mandir Pilgrimage, inviting visitors to explore its spiritual ambiance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What makes this temple remarkable is its construction from a single rock on the hillside, accessible by ascending between 307 to 315 steps. Nestled among 18 Buddhist caves, the Girijatmaj Ganpati makes its home in the eighth cave. These caves, collectively referred to as Ganesh-leni or Ganesh Gufa, offer a serene and cool retreat regardless of the weather, maintained in pristine condition for all who visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The approach to the temple is an experience in itself, with the path flanked by playful monkeys and the refreshing cascade of mountain water, particularly enchanting after the monsoon season when the surroundings are lush and green.
