Introduction

In the heart of Kathmandu valley, nestled along the bustling streets of Chabahil, stands the Chandra Binayak Temple. This special spot is one of the four sacred places dedicated to Lord Ganesh in the area. Chandra Binayak is also known by another intriguing name, Rakta Binayak. “Rakta” translates to “blood,” highlighting a fascinating belief among the locals: Lord Ganesh here has the power to heal illnesses and mend injuries. It’s no wonder that every Tuesday, which is considered Lord Ganesh’s day, the temple buzzes with visitors coming to seek blessings.

A few years back, in 2015, the temple faced a tough time as it was damaged by a massive earthquake. But, like a phoenix rising from the ashes, it has been lovingly restored. Today, it proudly displays a shiny brass roof over a small but magnificent silver statue of Ganesh.
