Ganesh Mantra for Wealth: Om Hreem Shreem Kleem
On this page
Introduction
Lord Ganesha removes obstacles, and among them the obstacles that stand between us and prosperity. Devotees chant this mantra to overcome financial hardship and to let abundance flow into their lives.
It joins three seed syllables, including Shreem, the syllable of Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth, with a salutation to Ganesha as Gajanana, the elephant-faced Lord.
The Mantra
ॐ ह्रीं श्रीं क्लीं
नमो भगवते गजाननाय
Om Hreem Shreem Kleem
Namo Bhagavate Gajananaya
In English: “Om Hreem Shreem Kleem: salutations to the blessed Lord, the elephant-faced one.”
What the Words Mean
The mantra is built on bijas, seed syllables, each holding a power of the Divine:
- Hreem (ह्रीं), the seed syllable of Shakti, the Goddess’s power
- Shreem (श्रीं), the seed syllable of Lakshmi, of abundance and grace
- Kleem (क्लीं), the seed syllable of attraction
Its other words:
- Namo, salutations
- Bhagavate, to the blessed Lord
- Gajanana, the elephant-faced one, a name of Ganesha
How to Chant It
Chant this mantra every morning, for at least 10 minutes each day.
The book Loving Ganesha, in its chapter Mantra Recitation, adds general guidance for all Ganesha mantras: bathe or wash before sitting, take three or more slow breaths first, and chant at the same time each day.
Conclusion
This mantra asks Ganesha, the elephant-faced Lord, to remove what stands in the way of prosperity. Chant it for at least 10 minutes each morning. Ganesha is often worshipped beside Lakshmi for the same reason; see also Lakshmi Ganapati.
